I took another one of those online quizzes. I guess this clearly demonstrates the mixture of my teaching degree's Language Arts minor and my Midwestern upbringing.

Sallie, I went to the link and took the test. I was 60% G.A. English,15% Upper Midwestern, and 15% Yankee. I attended college for almost four years taking mostly liberal arts classes and I was born and raised in Illinois. That was a pretty fair estimate.

It is amazing how the location of our upbringing shapes our speech, isn't it? I remember seeing a man on TV who could listen to people talk and based on what they said in just a brief period of time, figure out where they grew up and where they had lived since then. He could come within a few counties or so. Pretty amazing!
